Local Firms Collect Linens for Homeless Vets

Devens Eco-Efficiency Center and five local companies hosted a collection of bed linens that will be given to homeless veterans in transitional housing at Devens. The employees of Cains Foods, Laddawn, MagneMotion, Parker Hannifin, and SABIC are thanked for their generous contributions. A total of 39 sheet sets, 10 blankets and 8 pillows will be donated to the Devens office of Veterans Inc. to support the services they provide to as many as 36 individuals (concurrently) who served our country. Devens Eco-Efficiency Center offers a program to area businesses that many people may not be aware of. It helps keep operating costs low and is economically friendly. Dona Neely, Director of the Devens Eco-Efficiency Center, briefed the Devens Enterprise Commission (DEC) on the various green initiatives underway in and around the Devens Regional Enterprise Zone (DREZ). Neely reported on the “The Great Exchange” program she oversees, which has diverted tonnes of material and saved numerous companies within Devens and in the surrounding regions a great deal of money on disposal and purchasing costs.
